Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookies

IMG_0100

This is my go-to recipe for chocolate chip cookies. The sugar is replaced with turbinado and the chocolate chips with carob chips. It’s easy and cooks in a mere 10-12 minutes. These have a soft, cakey texture with a slight caramel twang.

Turbinado sugar is extracted during the first press of sugar cane. Its crystals are larger than regular white sugar and it has more of a molasses flavor. It is healthier than white sugar and lower in calories. It is also processed less than sugar.

Could applesauce be used in place of oil?

Yes! I haven’t tried in this recipe yet, but I know applesauce often does the trick in replacing oils, so let me know how it goes.
