This recipe serves tofu in a very simple, yet fragrant way. Marinated in and olive oil mixture of fresh mint and spices, the tofu absorbs excellent flavor. Seared simply for a few minutes on both sides, the tofu takes about 5 minutes to completion. Enjoy!
Tofu isn’t something I have very often, and this marks the first time I’m using it on the blog. The reason being that it is very difficult to find a high-quality source of tofu, and the kinds in the supermarkets are actually very difficult to digest. However, relative to other things you could be ingesting, tofu is a friendly meal. Eat it as part of the last meal of the day for digestion’s sake!
Spicy Mint Seared Tofu
Cook Time: 6 minutes
Keywords: main vegan vegetarian tofu mint red pepper flakes mint leaves
Ingredients
- 250 grams tofu
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- Dash of salt
- Dash of pepper
- Handful of fresh mint leaves
Instructions
Cut tofu as you like. I cut mine in 2×4-inch strips. Mix olive oil with spices and mint in dish large enough to hold tofu strips. Place tofu and chopped mint into the olive oil mixture and massage lightly so that the tofu is completely coated.
Let sit and marinade for at least 30 minutes.
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, begin to sear the tofu. Let the pieces cook on one side for 3 minutes, or until browned, and then flip to cook the other side for another 2-3 minutes.
When finished, drizzle with the remaining olive oil marinade and mint garnish. Serve in the pain or on top of rice!
Bon Appetit!
