In my family, we’re all about the appetizers, oftentimes more so than the main meal. Â We prepare our palettes for the main meal with a small salad, a prepared appetizer of the day, and ALWAYS with an olive oil dip.
You don’t have to cook this recipe in a saucepan; in fact, cooking oil changes its chemistry and makes it less healthy than if you served this raw. Â I, however, like to accentuate the taste of the garlic and spices by cooking them quickly in the olive oil before serving. Â Here is this simple, 2-minutes-flat recipe:
Ingredients:
1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1/4 tsp dried oregano
1/4 tsp dried basil
1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
Salt & pepper to taste
Directions:
Heat a small saucepan to high.
When it’s heated, add the olive oil to the pan.
Chop the garlic and assemble the ingredients.
Add them to the hot oil and let sizzle for literally no more than 10 seconds.
Immediately transfer to a serving plate for dipping. Voila!
That easy. That quick. You can adorn it with fresh parsley, grated lemon rind, grated parmesan cheese, or with olives and sun-dried tomatoes. Dip Dip Dip away!
